What are the advantages of resilient flooring? |

Composed of several sub segments, resilient flooring is versatile. While capable of mimicking popular hardwood, ceramic and stone, sheet vinyl can also incorporate custom, artistic designs. Resilient flooring is also the least expensive floor option. Meanwhile, linoleum and rubber flooring are sometimes the only options for work areas requiring hypoallergenic or slip resistant flooring. Another major attraction for the category is its ease of maintenance, which requires little more than soap, water and a mop. The surface layer on resilient flooring is also extremely resistant to scratching, fading and wear. |

Some of resilient flooring greatest drawbacks are due to perception, namely that it is cheap and environmentally unfriendly. However, the growing popularity and high-design associated with Luxury Vinyl Tile, available in both individual plank and tile formats, is changing this negative perception with retailers and end-users. Likewise, resilient floor manufacturers like M&L are making great strides to reduce the environmental impact of their products. |

There are several steps you can take to help maintain your resilient floor besides regular maintenance. Use a doormat outside to collect any dirt, moisture or other substances that can harm the floor. Use felt floor protectors on furniture to reduce scratching or gouging. Rubber backed rugs and mats should not be used as they tend to make the resilient floors appear yellow. Anything rubber stains resilient flooring very easily. All resilient floors are affected by direct sunlight and are prone to color fading. Try to keep blinds closed and direct sunlight off the resilient floor on sunny days when possible. Keep large animals with long nails off the floor as they can scratch and damage the vinyl. Keep liquids off the floor as much as possible. They can leak through seams and damage the sub floor which can also cause the adhesive to loosen. If you are moving appliances or heavy furniture never slide them across the flooring. If you find a seam has opened, it needs to be closed immediately a to prevent further damage. | | | |
